What is the alphabet ?
The alphabet is “a set of letters or symbols in a fixed order used to represent the basic set of speech sounds of a language,” not the meaning of words. With the use of a written alphabet, children are better able to learn that there are connections between sounds and letters, encouraging their ability to read, write, and fluently speak a language.

Learning the ABC's
The ABC's are the building blocks of language. In order to become literate, our children must be able to recognize each letter, both in order and out of order, as well as the sounds connected with that letter. Once armed with that knowledge, then a child is well on the road to reading and literacy.

How to learn the letters
Don't introduce all the 26 letters at once. Just concentrate on a couple of letters and allow your child to use his senses and feel the letters on their one. Children learn by touching, seeing, hearing so make letters from paper and let children experience the construction game and repeat the sounds. Alphabet coloring pages also reinforce your child's knowledge of letters.
